Celtic Circles 2020
We will gather in circle, between February and September 2020, offering Celtic ceremonies and celebrations. This will give an introduction to our teaching and a taste for the year-long program. Each class and workshop is available to anyone interested and is independent of one another and the year-long program.

Imbolc

Circling Together ~ Celtic Holiday ~ Gathering ~ Celebration ~ Ceremony

This Celtic holiday is especially sacred to the Celtic Fire Goddess, Brighid, patron of smithcraft, healing, midwifery, and poetry. It is the festival of the Maiden, for from this day to March 21st, it is her season to prepare for growth and renewal. Imbolc means, “In the belly of the Mother” because that is where seeds are beginning to stir as it is Spring. It is the time of Blessing of the seeds. It marks the center point of the dark half of the year. During this gathering, celebration and circling together, we will join in ceremony around a Celtic candle wheel, enjoying scents of wisteria, cinnamon and violet, creating Imbolc symbols to bring the honoring of Mother Earth into our homes and onto our altars. We will share seeds and teas from the Earth. We will explore the well celebrated days of Groundhog Day and Valentine’s Day and their roots in Imbolc. As with all Celtic festivals, Imbolc involves a host of unique customs and rituals to welcome the spring, say farewell to the winter, ward against evil and promote health and wellbeing. With these tenets in mind, we will gather and celebrate Mother Earth, we can’t wait to welcome you and circle together.
Ostara-Spring Equinox
Saturday, March 21st, 2020 10:00am-2:00pm
Circling Together ~ Celtic Holiday ~ Gathering ~ Celebration ~ Ceremony

We will come together in community to honor the Earth’s cycles and celebrate the balance of light and dark as the sun begins to tip the scales, and the return of new growth is near. A point of perfect balance on the journey through the Wheel of the Year. Night and day are of equal length and in perfect equilibrium – dark and light, masculine and feminine, inner and outer, in balance. The natural world is coming alive, the Sun is gaining in strength and the days are becoming longer and warmer. The gentle whispered promise of Imbolc is fulfilled in the evident and abundant fertility of the Earth at Ostara. It is time for the hopes of Imbolc to become action. The energy is expansive and exuberant. It is the first day of Spring! Ostara takes its name after the Germanic goddess, Eostre/Ostara, who was traditionally honoured in the month of April with festivals to celebrate fertility, renewal and re-birth. Do I hear whispers of Easter in those words? There is so much to explore, delve into and honor. Join us for this day long ceremony and circling together.
We will share leafy green dishes, nuts, seeds and sprouts. Flowers such as daffodils, violets, and peonies may sprinkle the room, with scents of jasmine, rose and strawberry filling the air. Planting seeds will surely be part of our gathering as we reflect on the Magick of nature and our Great Mother and her bounty.
